Beomeosa Temple in the forest, Busan, South Korea

We took the metro outside the city, then a bus up a big hill to a temple in a big national park called Beomensa Temple. It was pretty nice.

It has a long history and dates back nearly a thousand years. It was New Years Day when we went and there were lots of people worshiping at the temple. After, we walked back down the mountain for the next hour back into the town to catch the bus. It was a really nice, chilly forest walk.

Gamcheon Cultural Village, Busan, South Korea

Today we visited a place in Busan called Gamcheon Cultural Village. Its basically a funky colored village on the side of a hill. They say its Busan's answer to Machu Pichu which is a bit of an unfair comparison. Anyway, it was pretty nice and offered some good photo opps.

Gwangalli Beach at night, Busan, South Korea

We visited one of the two famous beaches this evening called Gwangalli beach. We visited it at night because they build a big bridge across it which is lit up in the evenings.

It was pretty impressive and didn't look too out of place along the coastline. After visiting the beach we kept walking around the harbor to the next metro station. The walk ended up being about 5km. but was great as there was a path around the coast. It offered some nice views of the city.

Busan Tower, Busan, South Korea

Just like Seoul, Busan has a big tower too.

Its in a really nice area where we had breakfast. The tower is in a park at the top of a hill.

It was very reasonably priced, so we went to the top and it gave some great views of the city and harbour.

I'm really liking Busan, I think its the type of place I could live in. As usual there is lots of hiking in the surrounding mountains but I'm not sure we'll get the chance to do it. The added advantage is that it has a really nice beach which we'll be visiting in the next few days.

Busan, South Korea

Took the bus from Jeonju to Busan. Busan is a big city on the south coast of South Korea. We will be spending three nights here and staying in an area called Seomyeon.

Seomyeon feels like the centre of the city. Its very lively in the evening with lots of shopping. Its got a nice fell to it. Its got a real Asia feel to it as most of the shops don't use our alphabet. There lots of things to see and do here so will post these over the next few days.

Staying in a Jeonju Hanok, South Korea

For one one night stay we will be staying in a traditional Korean house. Below are pictures of the outside of our room for the night.

Its a small room with bedding to sleep on the floor!! However, the floor was heated and it was very warm and comfortable.

That's the end of our flying trip to Jeonju. We're going to Busan for three nights tomorrow .

Jeonju Hanok Village, South Korea

After three nights in Seoul, we've traveled to a town called Jeonju to see the largest hanok village in the country. We took the bus which took about three and a half hours. Whilst we are here we will be staying in a hanok. The village is very nice and looked even better with a dusting on snow.

The village is very pretty with lots of nice houses.

Lots of Koreans visit the village for the day and rent traditional dresses called 'Hanoks' so they can take pictures. It really adds to the appeal of the place.

The village is pretty big and we visited a cafe which overlooks it.
